Long Necks are Sauropods

Long necks are really called Sauropods. They are the largest group of dinosaurs that roamed the earth. There were many breeds including the Camarasaurus (Mom wonders what kind of pictures they took), Brachiosaurus, Diplodocus, Apatosaurus/Brontosaurus, and the Supersaurus.

Long necks were as long as a tennis court and over 4 stories tall. They had to eat about 440 pounds of vegetation per day. That's equal to almost 9 rectangular bales of hay. They were herbivores, which meant they were vegetarians.

The Apatosaurus/Brontosaurus had 1 weapon, a whip like tail. The tail could move so fast it could break bones.

The Sauropods traveled in herds. This protected the smaller long necks from the vicious carnivores. The carnivores would not attack the grown long necks. The grown long neck would whack it with it's tail or crush them between their toes.

Gabe out!
