Ammonite

Ammonites were meat eaters that ate plankton and little fish. They had a hard shell that other fish could not bite through. They had air chambers in their shell they used to jet around in the ocean. This air helped them float, too.

It was a type of prehistoric squid inside the shell. The shells could get up to 3 feet across with the girl ammonites being bigger than the boy ammonites. The girls laid their eggs inside their shells.

They had a lid on their shell that would open or close. It was open when they had their heads out; but, they could pull in their head and let the lid close when a big, scary monster came by.

Gabe out.
