Archaeopteryx

The Archaeopteryx was a prehistoric bird that lived during the Jurassic Period. It was 2 to 3 feet long with lots of hollow feathers for flying. It was a meat eater. It had a big claw on it's feet for hunting.

It could dodge trees while flying. But, it did not flap it's wings. It glided through the air. It did not have the strong chest muscles of birds today. It had a different type of tail than birds today. It's tail was very long. It is believed to have had black colored feathers on it's wings.

The Archaeopteryx had a bigger brain than dinosaurs. It is thought to be one of the first examples of how the dinosaurs evolved.

Dacentrurus

The Dacentrurus was a large Stegasaurus type dinosaur. It was an herbivore that lived in the woodlands of Europe during the Jurassic Period.

It was 6 feet tall, 4.9 feet wide, 26 feet long, and weighed up to 5 tons.

It had plates and spikes on it's back. These were placed in the skin in rows along it's spine.

I feel sorry for these dinosaurs with all that armor. I imagine it was very heavy and made it hard to walk.
